SwajalDhara Project, Agra & Mathura

Project Background & Objectives: Rajiv Gandhi RastriyePayjal Mission, Pay jala poorti vibhag, Gramin Vikas Mantralaya, is a Pilot project (Jalnidhi Pariyojna) of Bharat Sarkar cherished to field improvement in five districts of Uttar Pradesh. This project is initiated in Lucknow, Agra, Chandoli, Sonbhadra, and Mirzapur Districts. The project will also provide an opportunity to carry out various innovative experiments in water payment in the state.

Objectives:
• Ensuring availability of clean and safe drinking water based on participation in rural settlements.
• Strive towards making the community self-reliant and self-reliant.
• Making meaningful efforts to promote social consciousness.
• Ensuring effective action for public empowerment.
• Strive for public awareness ofthe environment and cleanliness.

Project location: Agra & Mathura

Activities completed and methodology followed:
• Reorganization of Water Management Committee.
• Project information to the community.
• Group creation and facilitation.
• Organization to understand the importance of healthy home surveyors, conduct them from time to time, and discuss the problems in community meetings.
• Baseline study and investigation of them.
• Cross visit for the outcome of the project.
• Water yield assessment.
• Listing of water current assets.
• Selection of options for drinking water supply by feasibility analysis.

Results/outcomes achieved:
• Community Organization
• Formation of 12 drinking water user group
• Formation of 66 Women Self Help groups
• PRA exercise of revenue village (Community chart preparation, poster preparation, wall writing, pit planning card, Seasonal pattern card, game of snake and ladder)
• Proper execution of the project
• Monitoring and evaluation of the project
• Transparency in the project between community and project.
