Project Background & Objectives: The purpose of the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) is to
(i) ensure that every household has access to a tap with an assured supply of water and a sewerage connection.
(ii) increase the amenity value of cities by developing greenery and well-maintained open spaces
(iii) reduce pollution by switching to public transport or constructing facilities for non-motorized transport
All these outcomes are valued by citizens, particularly women, and indicators and standards have been prescribed by the Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD) in the form of Service Level Benchmarks (SLBs).
Project location: Saharanpur, Shamli and Muzaffarnagar districts
Activities completed and methodology followed:
• Door-to-door survey to identify households for and will verify that 100% of households have access to a tap with an assured supply of water connection in its designated Project Area. The respective ULBs and Jal Nigam under the assignee’s Area-of-Operations will provide the details as per their records.
• Enlist contact details of the household under the survey, with a complete address with an authentic document in support of the same.
• Mobilise targeted households to generate demand, help & motivate them till the water tap connections are completed.
• Conduct the Information, Education & Communication (IEC) activities, and the exercise Behaviour Change Communication (BCC) among the target and potential communities to achieve the target of 100% Tap-water connections, and its sustained usage in a proper manner including maintaining hygiene and disciplined consumption of water.
• Be an interface between the implementing agencies (Jal Nigam, Urban Local Bodies) and SMD - AMRUT, targeted and potential households, etc., which are responsible for AMRUT-related activities for the purpose of efficient execution of the Project.
• Update the SMD-AMRUT and the concerned ULBs with periodic reports and process photographs with all relevant supporting documents per prescribed format along with a ward-wise list of the beneficiaries under each ULB on the last day of each working month, thereby facilitating the development of an MIS by the SMD-AMRUT for reporting the work-progress by uploading the said details of the assigned components of the AMRUT Project through the mobile app and web-portal.
• The mother CSO will coordinate with the CSOs in the divisions allotted to them and does the necessary handholding for achieving the stated objectives of providing each urban household with a tap drinking water connection.
