“Uttar Pradesh Diversified Agriculture Support Project – Phase I and II” funded by D.A.S.P. UP Government

Project Background & Objectives: DASP aims ay assist GOUP to stimulate the agriculture growth rate through demonstrating diversification of agriculture in selected areas and policy reforms.
Phase-I: 38 Gram Panchayat of three Districts.
Phase-II: 36 Gram Panchayat of Two Districts.

The objective of the project is to increase the productivity, product diversity, and market access of the state’s farmers, livestock producers, and fishermen. In support of the objective, the project would aim to increase private sector investment in all facets of the agricultural and allied sectors; and to promote more effective use of government funds.
• Inclusive Mobilization and participation of farming communities.
• Local-level institutional development
• PLA & PRA based agriculture and market activities
• Access to electronic marketing intelligence system of rural people.
• Facilitate participation in monitoring and evaluation.

Project location: Phase I: Meerut, Bagpat, Saharanpur
Phase II: Bijnor Muzaffarnagar & Shamili District

Activities completed and methodology followed:
• Awareness campaign in all the selected villages.
• Assist in the conduct of village wise baseline survey
• Identification of affinity groups
• Assist the community in the village action plan
• Facilitate training of farmers to develop their technical expertise.
• Nurturing the villages as per D.A.S.P. SOP.
• Access success stories.
• Geographical indication of every village.

Results/outcomes achieved:
• 137 Awareness Campaigns conducted
• 144 number of FIG/SHGs/FFGs & farmer federation was formed
• 43 number of the village action plans developed
• 14 farmers identified a master trainer
• 133 number of groups got the bank linkage
• 89 farmers adopted demonstration technology
• Nurturing four villages to model D.A.S.P. village per block.
