Clean My Transport Nagar, Agra, Delhi & Kanpur

Project Background & Objectives: Clean My Transport Nagar (CMTN) targets to improve waste management and cleanliness of the identified Transport Nagar (hub) in Delhi, along with generating awareness on health and sanitation amongst stakeholders, shopkeepers, vendors etc. The program offers spectrum of services like waste collection, waste segregation, daily cleaning of the streets and lanes, creating compost from biodegradable waste, waste recycling and creating livelihood opportunities for rag-pickers.
• The purpose of this program to ensure delivery of waste management, cleaning, greening and (WASH) Water, Sanitation and Hygiene interventions within the transport hubs across India. The program is outline standardized operating procedures for implementing comprehensive waste management services for the trucker population across all CMTN project sites.

Project location: Agra, Kanpur, Delhi

Activities completed and methodology followed: Baseline and Detailed Need Assessment Study.
• Preparation of Strategies for Waste management in the Project Area.
• Mass awareness program on the waste management
• Community Mobilization activities
• Daily monitoring of work under the project (calculation of daily waste collection, type of waste collected, selling the dry waste, maintaining the composting quantity, maintaining MIS of Project, etc.
• Community consultations and Meetings on the Management of Solid Waste
• Waste collection, segregation, and composting of biodegradable waste in the Transport Nagar
• Greenery Promotion Activities like plantation, park maintenance, etc.
• Educational Support to the Rag Picker Children in the Transport Nagar
• Participatory Management of Parks and water points in the Transport Nagar
• Training and workshops for the waste collection team
• Workshop and Training program of the street vendors in the Transport Nagar.
• Advocacy and sharing with government agencies and officials.
• Training of Sanitation Team on waste handling, composting, and personal safety.
• Formal quarterly sharing meeting with stakeholders
• Capacity building of the street vendors and facilitating the process of getting them registered with the Delhi Municipal Corporation

Results/outcomes achieved:
• Scientifically management of Solid Waste of Transport Nagar area of the Delhi city.
• Facilitate the process of the waste segregation and composting of biodegradable waste
• Enhancement of green cover in the Transport Nagar.
• Significant increase in the number of live plants in the Transport Nagar
• Revitalization of the abandoned park in the Transport Nagar.
• Facilitate the enabling working environment for the mechanics, shop keeper, vendors, and other stakeholders.
• Facilitate the process of construction of public toilets and urinals to reach enough.
• Capacity building of the street vendors and facilitating the process of getting them registered with Delhi Municipal Corporation.
